Play Music - Bob James
It is a blessing to see all that is here. I am so proud of my heritage to have been a part of the TIGER family! This is true family, once a TIGER, always a TIGER!
I just logged onto this page and am very pleased. The research in this endeavor I'm sure was very exhausting yet fulfilling. As a former student of BSHS its good to know that we have not been forgotten and the struggles of the many have not been in vain. BSHS students were and still are very proud to have walked through those arches. The words of OUR Alma Mater still holds true. I hate I didn't graduate from BSHS, I hated to go to LHS, but through it all 1972 wasn't all that bad. I still had memories of BSHS, being one of Mrs. Barnes' Barrette and on the BSHS Choir under the direction of Mr. Peter Felder. Thank you for the work you've done on this site and I am definitely bookmarking it as a favorite.
I am just signing on this page and I am so glad that I did. It is humbling for me to see the pictures and the work that has been done to preserve this legacy. I am so proud to have attended BSHS even for those few years. My nine brothers and sisters were able to graduate but of coursem integration came and we had to leave. We did not leave without trying to get a memento or something, but it did not prevail. Mrs. Isom was still there but she could not convince the administration to allow it. So we graduated from LHS in 1971. It is ironic that my brother, Ervin's class was the class that voted for the name to be Barr Street High and my class of 1971 at LHS was the class that gave the school the name change, the mascot, the colors and all. I am just thankful and grateful that there is such a foundation to hold on to the legacy that was left by so many great folks. Thanks again for all of your hard work. COngratulations on the site!!!
1970! Your track team had some fast, fast runners! Mr. O'Leary was one. I was on the Brewer team and ran the mile. My best time was 4mins 57secs. I remember so well your school and have visited the area. For Old Times Sake. I am aretired state prison guard scdc. God bless you all.

My Mom and Dad both attended Barr Street High. Mom was a cheerleader and Dad a football player. My mom name is Leona Marie "Sis" Brown and Dad name is Bellarle Edward "Newt" Blackmon. I would love to find a yearbook album for their class of 1955 and purchase if possible.
