The Barr Street High School class of 1966 celebrated its 50th “Golden Year” reunion during the weekend of September 24, 2016, which was highlighted by a memorable Awards & Recognition Luncheon.

The luncheon was held at the Carole Ray Dowling Building on the campus of the University of South Carolina-Lancaster and featured an official proclamation delivered by Lancaster, SC mayor John P. Howard.

The theme of the reunion was “Reuniting and Reminiscing” and was organized in part by Betty Massey Cooper, valedictorian of the class of 1966; Betty H. Williams, chairperson of the Planning Committee; Verta Witherspoon, chairperson of the Social Committee, Betty Mackey Anthony, chairperson of the Decoration Committee, and many others.

In addition to the luncheon, the Barr Street classmates were able to pose for a new class photo, pay tribute to deceased students and faculty, and enjoy a Maroon and Gold banquet later that night that featured music, live performances, guest speakers and a delicious menu.
